RPEC Committees
Much of the service provided by the Richmond Peace Education Center is accomplished through the work of our committees. We currently have four standing committees: the fundraising committee, the membership committee, the programs committee, and the newsletter committee. Each committee is comprised of at least one board member and as many community volunteers as are willing to participate. (Yes, we need you!)
Joining one of our committees is a great way to meet new friends and build community while living out your commitment to creating a more peaceful world. If you are interested in helping with any of these committees, please click here to let us know by writing us at rpec@rpec.org

Programs Committee
The Programs Committee plans and organizes unique events and educational programming for the community around local, national and international peace and justice issues. Examples of programs this committee is responsible for include:
- Conflict resolution trainings
- Public forums on timely issues of peace, nonviolence and justice
- The Richmond Youth Peace Project—a collaborative effort with Drums No Guns to organize youth to develop innovative approaches to reducing youth violence
- Vigils to mark the anniversary of significant historical events such as the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki or the invasion of US troops in Iraq
The Programs Committee plans the largest number of RPEC events and activities. Volunteers are needed:
- to plan events
- to carry out publicity and other details prior to the event
- to staff events
Newsletter Committee
The Newsletter Committee oversees the publication of a bi-monthly newsletter. Volunteers are needed:
- to plan the content of each issue
- to write articles and solicit articles from other sources
- to update the calendar of events
- to index newsletter articles for the website
