Learn or reinforce and practice ways to manage conflict in their personal and professional lives, including:
Empathetic Listening: listening for facts, feeling & needs
Using “I-messages” to take personal responsibility for addressing conflict and communicate needs clearly and directly
Defusing, de-escalating conflict
Know how to deal with another’s anger
Understanding Trauma
Differentiating Challenging Behavior from Trauma Symptoms
Practice skills in preparation to become apprentices in the RPEC conflict resolution team:
Design a workshop agenda
Practice facilitating a brief activity selected from the RPEC conflict resolution manual
Receive and consider feedback on their presentation
Participate in and offer feedback as other workshop participants lead their activities.
Gain a broad understanding of the RPEC Conflict Resolution curriculum.
This workshop is the foundation for all the Peace Center’s conflict resolution programs and provides essential skills and insights to adults of all experience levels.
This training is open to teachers and any adult interested in learning to resolve disputes peacefully. Through two days of engaging group exercises, you’ll strengthen your communication, active and empathetic listening, and conflict/problem-solving skills. The skills you’ll learn are helpful in addressing everyday interpersonal disputes at home or workplace, in the classroom and in the community!
Educators will earn a minimum of 15 points toward re-certification.
Snacks and drinks will be provided.

Leader: The training will be led by RPEC trauma-responsive trainer Santa Sorenson.
Pre-payment required. Tuition for the workshop is $275, which includes the 200+ page training manual. Limited to 25 participants.
